Pureology......

From the ingredients that go into our formulas, to the raw materials that comprise our packaging, to the effect our products have on the environment during and after use, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.

WE BELIEVE…
  • Sustainability is our responsibility
  • In minimizing our environmental impact across the entire lifecycle of our products
  • In animal rights, our products are never tested on animals
WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED:
  • Reduced the amount of water needed per batch in our manufacturing processes
  • Our bottles are made of 50% post-consumer recycled materials and are 100% recyclable
  • Products and printed materials use up to 50% PCR materials and FSC paper stock
  • We’ve minimized our use of secondary packaging, with cartons we do have being made of 100% recycled fibers
  • Reduced utility energy consumption per bottle
  • Reduced waste during the filling and packaging process
  • We use FDA-approved plastics for unparalleled safety and environmental sustainability
WHAT YOU CAN DO AT HOME & IN THE SALON:
  • Run only full loads in washing machines and choose an energy efficient model
  • Fix leaky faucets and toilets
  • Install high efficiency faucets and toilets. Fitting low-flow attachments to faucets can save a massive 70% of water!
  • Rinse out and recycle empty Pureology bottles to minimize waste in our landfills
  • Use energy-efficient lighting, laundry machines, heating/cooling systems, and styling tools

PAPERNOTFOIL is made of industrial waste from the construction industry – recycled and turned into paper! A first fully environmentally friendly alternative to colouring hair.
• NZ registered salons use on average 1.5km of tinfoil a month resulting in enough tinfoil to wrap around the earth every year – Australia is 4 times! Imagine this Globally. #makethechange
• It degrades with no toxic waste (about 6-7 months in UV directly from the sun) it looks and feels like broken egg shells that continue to crack into smaller pieces until stone powder residue (CaCO3) is left.
• PAPERNOTFOIL will also degrade over a longer period in the ground as the suns UV rays penetrate the earth.
• Off-cuts and reject paper are recycled at the mill into new paper and re-pelleting is the only required process, hence no waste occurs in production.
• Significantly less energy and no water used in its manufacturing process and recycling compared to that required to recycle Aluminum Furthermore the process generates no effluent or toxic wastes.
• PAPERNOTFOIL components and manufacturing process is certified by FDA and ROHS as being harmless to human health, plants and animals unlike Aluminum and Plastic.
• It is manufactured from ground down waste stone and offcuts used in the building industry. It contains no wood fiber.
• PAPERNOTFOIL has very low carbon emissions
• It uses significantly less energy to produce than aluminum and produces no toxic waste.
• It generates no effluent in its manufacture. (Airborne or solid)
• It requires no water, acid, base or bleach during production.
• Any trimmings or waste paper from production is recycled to make new paper.
• It is both recyclable class 2 and photo-degradable
• Compostable under suitable conditions.
